Wonderful mini tug that has become an icon on Smith Lake. She is 30 feet long 10 feet wide and Powered by a Perkins Diesel engine. She uses 1/2 gals of fuel an hour at cruise speed. She has had an amazing history. Right now she is being used to tour guests of AnchorLight Bed and Breakfast. We are just finishing with new paint on the lowers. Runs wonderfully! Really loves Jet A fuel if you can get it. She has been a joy to own but we really have to retire due to illness or we would NEVER think of selling her. We hope that she will go to someone who will love her as much as we have. She is probably the most photographed boat on the lake and EVERYONE wants to hear her distinctive whistles.
She is a wooden boat covered by fiberglass. She was built in 1971 by 2 brothers in Rhode Island and was originally to be used as a tender for the yacht races. She worked at Mystic Harbor Seaport. Moving the huge whaling ships exhibits around. Then ended up owned by an individual which is when we bought her. This is the first fresh water she has experienced. We have never been able to find the engines age but we think mid 60's. It is a Perkins 4-107. 36 horsepower. It is the torque that makes her a work horse, she has pulled 3 steel docks here on the lake at the same time and still made a whopping 2 knots. She uses 1/2 to 3/4 gals of diesel fuel per hour and loves Jet A if you can get it. All running gear is in great shape. Tug keeps after her. She is 10 feet wide. She is 13 feet tall with her stack and antennae removed. We have the original blueprints given to us after we tracked down the designer David Beach. She weights in at 5 1/2 tons. You will need a boat hauler to move her. It cost us $1400 to have her shipped here from Old Saybrook Ct. But that was 12(?) years ago. She has a non working Raytheon radar ( don't think it will be a big fix) it was working before we took her out the last time for maintenance. The same with her depth finder. We just did not need them here on the lake so never repaired them. She has a great history and is very much loved. It would be wonderful to see her go to someone who will love her as much as we do. You will find that everyone thinks she is the cutest boat ever. The man who delivered her to us said that every time he stopped someone asked if they could buy her. God has blessed us in so many ways and she is one of them. I hope this answers some of the questions we have been asked.
