PAPA is a great bluewater cruising yacht to fulfill your dreams. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a lightly used, 1985 Nantucket Island 38. Offered to market at $100,000 USD, she is priced far below her recent Survey value. The previous owners have recently invested over $150,000 in upgrades. She is very well equipped for cruising. This is a bluewater sailing yacht that has been constantly upgraded and is ready to cruise.

New she was delivered to Michigan where she spent the majority of her life in the freshwater of the Great Lakes, during a 3 to 4 month summer period. The rest of the year she was stored on the hard and preserved by cold weather. The second owner was an airline pilot who brought her down from Michigan to Fort Lauderdale Florida. She is one of the last of five built. Designer, Peter Coles designs are known to be well-founded and fast. His ability to think outside the box is legendary. Safety and speed are known to be his hallmarks. Functionality and fun also played a large part in his designs. Unique to the Nantucket Island is the lead-filled FRP keel. There are no keel bolts that can corrode, nor is there any possibility for the keel to dislodge and fall off in grounding. Nantucket islands are built in two halves and are bonded together. 8800 lbs of ballast fills the void in the keel which is then glassed over. If the keel strikes and underwater object and is holed, it is sealed so that no seawater can leak into the bilge.

The flush deck is solid fiberglass with no wood core to rot out. Nantucket islands are designed to withstand the rigors of a life at sea and hold up to the ravages of time. Nantucket Island yachts are hand laid FRP and are very strong. The hull thickness ranges from 1 inch to ¾. Deck thickness ranges from ¾? to ½. The build quality equates to an extremely strong offshore bluewater cruisin
